YC106 destruction of an Imperial transport carrying Doriam II's retainers — Doriam II killed in the strike. Triggered the succession crisis that produced Court Chamberlain Dochuta Karsoth's regency. The succession theft by Karsoth is the structural origin of the Sarum-claim subversion arc that continued into Jamyl I's reign.
Person (1)
- Doriam Kor-Azor
Doriam II. Amarr Emperor between Heideran VII and Jamyl I. Reformist; assassinated under circumstances that put Karsoth into the Provost Marshal seat and effectively ran the Empire from there.
synthesis
Doriam Kor-Azor was the brief reformist throne between Heideran's long conservatism and Jamyl's superweapon-defined reign. His assassination is one of the most consequential political events of the modern era — it left Karsoth (a Provost Marshal) in operational control of the Empire while the Royal Heirs were unable to consolidate succession. The Karsoth interregnum is when most of the structural Amarr-vs-Republic instability that fed into the Imperian Age was set up.
